About KC

Hello my name is Kenneth C. Hennessey, other wise known as K.C. I spent half my life in California and the other half in Missouri where I live now. I attended Thousand Oaks High School in California where I met my wife, Tracy. I took a few electives like wood class, cartooning and a class called ROP (Regional Occupation Program,) where I would leave campus and go to a trade school. There I learned how to use clip art and to design book covers and magazine ads. I also designed my first logo for my dad’s business (On Que Entertainment).

I started doing portraits in high school. My first one I ever did was of my wife when we were dating which you will see in this web site. I never did any more after that, because I never thought I could do anything with it.

I got married right out of high school when I was 20 years old, and like all young kids, didn’t know what I was going to do with my life. I moved to Missouri to work with my brother in law, but things didn’t work out like they were supposed to so I got a job working for a roofing company. I worked there for almost 2 years before I finally worked for my brother in law as an operator for JMS electric. This is where I work now.

I had two children, a girl and a boy. My wife asked me if I would draw a portrait of Kaitlynn (my daughter) for her. Of course, I agreed to and also drew my son, Chaz. My wife loved them, but again, I didn’t do much with my talent. It wasn’t until 2007 when things started to develop for me professionally.

A lady at our church wanted to have her girl drawn so she asked my older sister (Lynnise) if she would draw her daughter, but Lynnise just didn’t have the time to, so she referred her to me. That is where life made a big U-turn. I drew the picture for her as a gift and she loved it and I loved seeing the look on her face. She then came to me again and asked if I would draw her son too, but she said something that threw me off guard: she said she would pay for it. I got to drawing and got paid for my first 75-dollar portrait. It was weird feeling for me that someone would pay money for something I enjoyed doing. I just never thought anything of it before. I never had a drawing class nor had any formal training--just a God-given talent. The only thing I was good at before that was digging ditches. I thank God for everything and also thank all my friends and family for thier support. I also thank my brother in law (John,) my sister in law (Sherri,) and my wife (Traci) for pushing me to do something about it. I didn’t have the confidence to do it, but when I saw the reactions of the people they sent the pictures to I got excited.

So here I am writing this autobiography for a website that is mine. I can’t wait to put a drawing in your hands if you will let me. I want to make these portraits as professional and as affordable as I can. The economy has really slowed down and it’s affecting my job so I am hoping that it will pick up the slack that I so desperately need. Thank you for taking the time to read this and hope your visit is a good one.
